Well, Davey Havok explaned that one in the, show called Makes A Video--AFI, they are a symbol of death.
Its a long story but thats what they mean...
And u don't sound stupid, AFI has meany secrets like that for exemple, the AFI short movie that came with the limmed Sing The Sorrow cd/dvd. And wut Davey is mouthing in the end of the Love Like Winter video.. some say he was mothing, Jade Help Me Jade.
Its because Davey was born in the year of the rabbit in the Chinese calendar.
