If XM satellite Radio and SIRIUS satellite radio merge together would I be able !

Question: I am currently a SIRIUS subscriber from Detroit, Michigan.

If SIRIUS and XM merge together would I be able to go to the store and buy an XM receiver and have it activated and be able to listen to XM on my XM receiver and listen to SIRIUS on my SIRIUS receiver and still pay the subscription price of $12.95 per month for both services combined together?

One of the things promised by Sirius boss Mel Karmazin (who will undoubtedly end up as CEO of the merged company) is a special deal where you'd be able to select your favorite 50 stations from each service and only pay $6.99 per month for that new plan. Or keep the full service for about $13 (what you are paying now). There will also be other deals. Plus, all the sports will be available, so you don't have to choose which service to get based on whether you like football or baseball - you'll have it all: pro and NCAA.

To do what you propose in your question - at least in the beginning - would be about $26/mo ;<)

I seriously doubt it. I would think they would take off a whole bunch of channels and just combine some of the more popular ones from each. And I imagine the cost will go up.

I bought the lifetime package for $399 from Sirius. They say even with the merger the only time you will pay is $75 to move radios. From 4th year on you save money. Free unless you change vehicles/ radios.
Channels and services would be separate at first then over time merge into one with more channels then either, but eliminating duplicate channels.

Yeah, you would get the choice "a la cart" of what channels you wanted from either provider. I posted a blog about it, which you can read at www.SatelliteSweeps.com/blog.

Also, if you are looking to get free satellite radio equipment, www.SatelliteSweeps.com gives away a free XM or Sirius satellite radio free everyday. All you have to do is register.

Hope this helps!

Yes, you can get each service on a separate receiver, but it will cost you $25.90 ($12.95 for each service).

If you buy a new generation radio, you can get an a la carte plan where you can choose 100 channels from either service for $14.99, or you can get all of Sirius and 11 select XM channels (or vice versa) for $16.99
