What are the requirements to become a Radio DJ?!

Question: Do you need a college degree or some sort ?

Answers: Do you need a college degree or some sort ?

You don't need a degree to be radio talent. You're actually better off not going to college, and racking up thousands of dollars in debt, cause you'll never pay it off on a radio salary. Start at your local college station, if you're young enough, get your foot in the door with an internship, work really hard, try to get experience working the board, editing, and in commercial production. Also, don't forget that there are other ways to break in, traffic and news for instance.
Most radio careers live or die on how much experience they have, not college degrees.

no degree is required. although it is a lot tougher than it used to be, thanks to corporate radio. just get your foot in the door. have a good voice and be prepared to work hard-

to elaborate on crooked's answer... he's right. but you dont nessacarily need a good voice. some of the most succesful people in radio are 'different' sounding.

also, its not what you know but who you know thats willing to let you start off. you will probably start by running sound boards. I did for a year before they let me on the air.

many college stations will train you for free and then give you a show at 2:00 in the morning. the station I am on doesn't require you to be a student or alumni.

basically, you need a good personality. or the ability to fake it really well. or, a good voice and go to a station where you read off of cards. you kinda need a degree in that so many people want to do it - that you need to have certain basic levels of credibility. and a degree is one such qualification. plus, at the university - college radio allows you the chance to practice a lot - and find out if you really enjoy it.
