Does is seem strange to you?!

Question: On cable television you can see ads for satellite tv and vice versa. However, on terrestial radio, you will NEVER hear an ad for Sirius or XM. It seems that regular radio is trying to do it's best to pretend satellite radio does not exist. After all, Sirius and XM both advertise on television. Why wouldn't they advertise on the radio? It would certainly cost less for the two struggling companies. Unless they are not allowed to. Any thoughts?

I noticed that myself. A few weeks ago I heard my local Classic Rock station havening a local Radio Shack commercial On Sirius Satellite Radio. Satellite radio gets there subscriptions from cars.... People have it in there cars... they love it... the subscribe.

I listen to regular radio, or podcasts, why pay something that you can get for free?

Good point, I have noticed that too. They do advertise digital radio though, but only because it is still a free broadcast, but you need a digital reciever. I think I've heard like a Radio Shack commercial on the radio selling Sirius...

Why would radio want them to advertise? its the competition. You wont see alot of dish network ads on cable TV either. Conflict of interest.

I don't think most radio stations would have a problem advertising Satelite radio...it's easier to sell certain things using Television. If you dig around you'll also find that most major broadcasting companies (i.e. Clearchannel) actually have stock in Satelite radio. Trust me...traditional radio is not scared of satelite in the least...satelite holds a small, small fraction of radio listeners.

You see satellite companies advertise on regular t.v. stations, because those networks i.e. nbc, abc, cbs, are also on satellites i.e. dish network, direct tv. Terrestrial radio, as of now is not on a satellite.
