Delaware radio stations?!

Question: Why are almost all of the local stations getting more staticky everyday? Like 103.9 is right in Georgetown and when you are riding in Sussex County you can hardly understand it. It seems like the only stations that are ever clear are the country stations. and who wants to listen to that crap?

You certainly have a way with words. Beauty is in the ear of the beholder, and if you're trying to get people to help you by insulting a music genre that is enjoyed by millions of people and responsible for the livlihoods of hundreds of thousand of others, you are lowering the pool of people who might be willing to help. But enough lecture.

Is this static-y thing new or has it always been like that in Sussex County? Radio signals only go so far and they aren't perfect circles, they are directional. I would think that you have been driving close to the edge of their signal, they have a tendency to fade out and give over to static rather than just stop - signals that is.

If it is a new phenomenon, then perhaps it is weather or season related or you are having an antenna or other problem with your radio. It is possible, but not likely that the station has changed their pattern.

If it's all the stations, then it's either your car/radio or weather/season related. As the weather gets cooler it may be affecting the signals of the weaker stations, especially if there's been ground fog or rain.

Radio stations are divided into categories that define how much power they can use and how high their antenna can be. This all affects reception, though usually more so with AM than FM stations.

Wiggle your antenna gently to see if that makes a difference. If your antenna is not visible (built into the windshield) there's not much you can do except listen to country ;<)
