Why do radio station play talk radio during peak hours such as early morning wh!

Why do radio station play talk radio during peak hours such as early morning when driving to work?

I hate listening to peoples stories on how they get drunk and regret thing they did the night before at the bar. Why don't they place music instead? Every station I turn to they are talking about something that I don't want to hear that early in the morning.

A lot of people like talk radio. I, for one, prefer music when I drive. However, it is the station's choice. Typically, they will play whatever is giving them the higher ratings. Higher ratings brings more advertising dollars. Advertising agencies really don't care what format the station plays. They recognize that when the higher the ratings, the more people hear the ads. Evidently, you are in an area that prefers talk radio if its hard to find a station playing music during drive time, since drive time (early morning, late afternoon) is key radio time.
