DAB radio stations?!

Question:

DAB radio stations?

Because of DAB and all the signals will be digital and not FM there won't have to be spare frequencies. Will it be easier for anyone to just add a radio station on there.

Answers:

Unlikely. In fact, it might end up being more difficult.

A typical place - Sheffield, for example - has one "multiplex" (DAB transmitter) for South Yorkshire, and one for Yorkshire as a whole. There are also two national multiplexes. And that's it.

So, if you want to get the station for Rotherham onto DAB, that means that it has to broadcast to the whole of South Yorkshire, and be charged accordingly. Assuming there's space left on the multiplexes (and there isn't on most.)
