Why is Dominik Diamond Leaving XFM?
I've picked up that they can get someone else to do the show for half the price... but are doing it for hal of what DD is currently paid or did DD ask for double what he's currently paid?? I'll miss his craic.
Answers:
According to the Sunday Herald (10 June 2007), Diamond asked for too much money, and the station management refused as the company's advertising revenues are not as high as forecasted. Thus it seems that Diamond played "hard to get" (following his Sony award nomination and other accolades) and the management said “we don’t have the money”, and they could not reconciliate their positions.

Diamond's last show yesterday (a week earlier than expected) was very emotional and there were constant digs at the management regarding music policy, budget control and lack of investment, etc.
I cannot help but thinking but DD may regret the way things have turned out. It was clear from yesterday that he passionately enjoys working at XFM Scotland and the show was good fun but perhaps he was too much of a maverick for a “command & control” management team at GCap.
