Why do FM radio stations speed up their songs or cut parts of it out?!

Question:

Why do FM radio stations speed up their songs or cut parts of it out?

I find it very annoying, has anyone else noticed this?

Answers:

They have what is called a program log and spot sets (commericals) have to be done at a certain time every hour. So songs have to only run a certain amount of time. If there's a 4 minute song and there's only 3:15 until the spot set then the song needs to be potted down or faded out to adjust to the timing. The spot sets are what's important to the station because they pay the money not the songs. Companies listen all the time. They pay for certain slot times and some times cost more. They want to make sure their spot is played at the time they paid for.
