How do you get to visit Radio one and see a show go out live?!

Question:

How do you get to visit Radio one and see a show go out live?

Answers:

no harm in asking, but you probably need to really pester them to death! lots of contact and in the end they will give in! or find someone with a contact there and sort it that way. or catch up with DJs at the events they do out and about. if you wrote to a producer there and said you are doing media studies and want to have a career in radio and you just wanted to expereince a little bit of what it is like - they might say yes.

They don't do tours - they say: "As Radio 1 is a busy place it is not really practical for us to give tours. To be honest we are just a building of offices full of computers and people working hard at them (sometimes!)."

But they are helpful on work experience:

"Jobs at Radio 1 are advertised on the BBC Jobs site as and when they become available.

As you can imagine, Radio 1 receive a large number of work experience requests and therefore we have to treat everyone fairly and equally.

Anyone interested in a work experience placment needs to apply via the central BBC Work Experience site and search for placements being offered at Radio 1. The scheme is open to people aged 18 or over and with some previous experience. This is to make sure successful applicants get as much as possible out of their time here.

Radio 1 has many departments - press, marketing, news, online and so on. There's detailed information on the different types of jobs people do at Radio 1 on OneMusic - this might help you get a better understanding of the job you want to aim for.
