How can be a radio jockey (rj)?

am currently studying engg in in 3rd yr...i 've interests in music,n wanna be a rj..can any one help me where to apply,,n what r te requirements to be a rj..the communication skill is the key...bt what r the other requirements,n where to apply, n how,,if i wanna be a rj of well known friends 91.9 fm of kolkata..

Hi Raja, I was also very interested in joining the radio business and I found it was not that difficult to get experience at local radio stations, basically you need to have a pleasant voice and some personality and you need to be able to read well, alot of radio stations give u scripts to read from so you need to make it sound as natural as possible. Of course you would need to know the local language and I am sure it never hurts to be fluent in english as well. If i were you I would try getting an internship at a local station and learn the basics of how to operate radio equipment and just observing how the radio station runs, you really dont need to join a broadcasting school if you can get a job at a radio station and if you already have a talent in speaking well. Learning how to use the equipment wont take that long. Goodluck you you, hope to hear you on the FM soon, lol!
