I wondered that too, what a strange law! If u have passed a driving test anywhere in the US it must mean u know how to drive so why the need to take another test!? Its a bit different if u had a licence from another country as some countries have really low standards of drivingWww@Enter-QA@Com

You need to have a valid drivers license from your state of permanent residence!. This does not mean that you need to get a license for every state you drive in!. We are free to drive across the country with our state license!. If you were to move to another state, you would then need to get a drivers license from that state!.

Edit: Regarding Brittney, I'd imagine that the point of contention was whether she was considered a permanent resident of Louisiana or California!. If she's a California resident, she really should have a California drivers license!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

your driver's license would be honored

when you VISIT another state, your out of state license is valid UNTIL

you go to work full time in that other state - and here's the problem - - then - they require you to get a license in the state you work full time

a reasonable request if you are going to work and live there - -

unless you are Brit SpearsWww@Enter-QA@Com

You can drive anywhere with any state license, they're just issued locally!. Rather than everyone in America applying to Washington for their driving license they do it a state level!. Someone with a Delaware license is free to drive in any of the other 49 states!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

That doesn't make sense unless she has made California her primary residence!.
My daughter moved out of state and had to get a new license!. I don't know how long you have before you are considered a resident, but when you are you need a license from that state!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Each state has different laws etc!. That's just how it is!. You can leagally drive in any state, but if you move, you have to switch your DL to the state that you live in!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Strictly speaking the US is not one country, it the UNITED STATES of America!. So each State has it's own laws!. There are also Federal laws governing the USA!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Prob because all the different states all have there different rules and regs!. bloody americans!. whats wrong with simple!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because it's broken up into states like Australia and each state is governed individually and have different lawsWww@Enter-QA@Com

It is the same as UK!.

England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland

We all have our different laws!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i don't think we need driving license state wise then

we should have license to drive any where in USAWww@Enter-QA@Com

Having a valid driver's license from any state allows me to legally drive in any state, Canada and Mexico!. However, it might be different for overseas drivers!. Besides, we don't want you trying to drive on the wrong side of the road!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Of course it's one large country!. It's huge, but it's still only one country!. It's part of a continent, like any other country, but it's still just the one country!Www@Enter-QA@Com

you answered your own question!. ahem, Different States!.
