My parents spanked me with spatulas, belts, their hands and a number of other implements
I don't resent them or feel I was punished unfairly
I don't understand today's parents and their aversion to spanking!.
As long as you are not bruising them or hurting more than their ego/pride I think it's fine!.
My dad would raise his hand to me if I so much as raised my voice to my mother when speaking to her!.

I think a well-deserved and calculated smack on the butt is fine, but only, like I said, if the child really needs a reality check!. For instance, I've only spanked my child ONCE, and it was when she thought it would be funny to yank her hand away from me and run into the street! I did it not out of anger, but out of a desire to make sure she knew the seriousness of it and never forgot -- I tried to explain it at first and she burst out laughing and tried to do it again, so she got a good smack!. It becomes abuse when it's done out of anger, resentment, or a desire to humiliate or demean the child!. Or if it's taken past a little slap on the butt and becomes repeated hitting, punching, or pushing the child to the ground, etc!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
