I cannot see the actual sun as it rises, but it just changed the night's darkness to an inviting soft blue sky, and forces a smile upon my face and hope in my heart!.

Yes, it can!. When on holiday in Alcudia, Spain each morning we would see a church, high on a hill changing colour from sandy white, to orange read as the sun came up behind the building we were in!.
We didn't see the sunrise, but we saw what it was doing and it really gladdened our hearts!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think there are some people whose lives are so desperate and the future so bleak, that even a glorious sunrise does nothing for them!.
The majority of us experience a sunrise like none others, which usually sparks a bit of hope in all of us or at least makes whatever is bothering us a little less intrusive!.
The comparison of the effect of the sunrise and the actual sunrise is closely tied to the mental state of the observer!. A person who is lost in the woods, for example, and has been sleeping all night in a makeshift bed under a tree, will be less likely to appreciate the sunrise for it's aesthetic value, rather he is going to look upon it as a strictly utilitarian basis!. Hang the beauty, he can see where he's going and he knows which way is north!.!.
On the other hand, a couple awakening to a sunrise at the beach will see the sunrise in a completely different way and enjoy not only the sunrise itself but have memories later in life to enjoy, just because it is a special event!.

Once while staying for the 1st time on Jekyll Island,GA I saw something that I'd never seen before!. The place was Comfort Inn on the beach with a room overlooking that beach and the Atlantic Ocean!. The room has some one way tinted windows which were rather big!. Matter of fact about the size of the entire wall facing the ocean with exception for the entrance door!.

I know not where you reside in Arizona, but if you are near Tucson, rise early and drive in the darkness to one of the east facing overlooks high up on Mount Lemmon!. Wait for sunrise!. It was one of the most beautiful sights I ever saw, as the light first started glowing on the horizon!. I was sitting in my car with a girl named Susie, and as the sun arose we seemed to melt into each other!. The magic only lasted a few minutes, but it made an impression!. I am on the road before dawn and again at dusk, not all the time but a lot of the time!. I see many a sunrise but I enjoy the sunsetting much more!.
