They were called *Clackers* and I ended up in A&E on more than one occasion coz of them lol!. They were eventually banned from the school I went to along with all other schools in the area due to the amount of kids who were having to take time out to go to the hospital through breaking their wrists or thumbs with the blooming things!.
At one stage at least more than half of the pupils were sporting either support bandages or plaster casts from the injuries sustained from playing with Clackers!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I've seen them called a few different things!. We called them clacking balls!.
