Because they are!. There are all kinds of addicts (users) drug, food, nicotine, video games,internet, shopping, and sex to name just a few!.

My husband is a WOW addict, and i would say its on par with a junkie needing to score a hit with him!. He comes home from work and checks his Warcraft e-mails to see if he's sold his auctions! Plus while hes playing it he might as well be on another planet coz he hears nothing I say, I reckon we could get robbed while he was playing and he would not bat an eyelid!. I sometimes wish he was into taking a smoke, at least that way it would be something we could do together!!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm only on this one cos of this god-foresaken job I'm in and I only use the one at home about twice a week to check Facebook and download more and more songs!.
Anyway, my answer is that I think that they're called users because, yes, the internet is addictive but, also, you do actually USE the computer!.
You don't just switch it on!.!.!.you don't just click around!. You actually use it!.
Just like I'm a phone user!.!.!.I use my phone!.
Or a hair dryer user!.!.!.I USE my hairdryer!.
Please, don't make me spell it out even mooore!.!.!.
EDIT* - Lol, sorry if that answer sounded abrupt!.!.!. I'm actually chilling today, thanks! Got my mug of green tea and seeing my bf tonight so all is pretty damn good at the moment!.
