My mom: Spanish, Native American, Italian, and Puerto Rican

My dad: German and Black

Answers:
If your mother is evenly Spanish, Native American, Italian, and Puerto Rican, she is 1/4 of each!. And the same math goes for your dad!.!.!.if he is evenly German and Black, he is 1/2 of each (or to make it simpler math, 2/4 each)!.

This means you are the following:
You have Spanish, Italian, and German which makes you 1/2 Caucasian!. (And yes, Spanish from Spain would make you Caucasian!. Hispanic refers to someone from Latin America!.) You have Black which makes you 1/4 African American!. You have Puerto Rican which makes you 1/8 Hispanic!. You have 1/8 Native American which makes you (big surprise) Native American!.

Now you have to ask yourself, "Which culture do I identify best with!?" and "What culture did my parents raise me under!?" If you were raised practicing African American traditions, you would probably most likely claim to be Black, and so on for the other cultures!.

As for what you should put on your application, it depends on what kind of application you are filling out!.

If it is a job application, you can claim any one or all of these and in the end, you would be correct!. However, as someone who works in a position that reports ethnicity to the government, they have a rating system!. So if you are applying for government assistance or doing something of a public service (such as foster parenting), you would use the following system: If you have any Native American blood, it tops all other ethnicities and you are to put that down!. Just be warned that you may have to prove your link to a tribe!. Next comes Hispanic, then African American, then Caucasian!.

I know all this sounds crazy and may be confusing, but this is technically how it is!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well when you have any ounce of black in you then you are pretty much labeled as black!.

I am Italian and my husband is black, so my kids are considered black!.

Not that you should have to explain to anyone, but if you did want to check something I would just check whatever makes you feel comfortable!. You are who you are, not just defined by the color of your skin!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i would put only one thing because have you ever seen those kids that are like "im black, cuban, african, german, polish, indian, puerto rican and jamaican" and they just make it all up!. you dont wanna seem like one of those, so just put one thing and if people ask, you tell them "my father is 1/2 german 1/2 black and my mom is puerto rican, italian, etc"

If you wanted to be really cynical you could play the race card and say "Black"!.

But I'd just say "human" for your race!. That's what we all are anyway!

Do you identify with your European heritage more than your Afro-American!?
