Survey - book or film adaptation?!

Question: Survey - book or film adaptation!?
My favourite film, 'The Shining', has just been trounced by the book version I am reading!. In fact, with the possible exception of 'A Clockwork Orange', I have always enjoyed the book far more than the film verison of a story!.

Anyone disagree!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
BOOK 99% of the time!.

I saw the Disney version of Candleshoe (mid-seventies with Tatum O'Neal) and bought the book thinking it would have so much more detail!.
It was a dud!.

Very few movies do the book justice!.

Every once in a while you do get a movie that's close to the book, then I'm amazed!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no, the books are almost always better than the films, probably because they can put a lot more into the book!.
The Shining is a great book and if you read it before seeing the film it would've spoilt the film a bit (not just cos you knew what would happen!)!. It's still a great film but the part I was really disappointed with was at the end when the kid is hiding outside, the book is WAY scarier than the film where he's just hiding in the maze!.
Same with Pet Sematary, the book is one of my faves, all the pages and pages of description of the characters thoughts, and the way some parts of the story are told in the book (especially when Gage gets run over) could never be told as well in a film, even though I think Pet Sematary is a really good adaptation of a book!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i agree although i have tried to read Stephen kings IT four times and cant really get into it, whereas i loved the film!. i loved Roots, far better than the seriesWww@Enter-QA@Com

I agree!. Books are far more better as you can actually imagine being there and everything is so genuine!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree, the film makes no sense at all!. If I hadn't already read The Shining I wouldn't have understood what the film was about!. 'fraid even Jack couldn't save that one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree!. Since I usually read the book long before a movie is considered, I have to lower my expectations for the movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no i agree with you 100%
books make you feel, think and imagine
