Does this poem sound stupid to you??? (yes or no)?!

I had to write an Italian sonnet on a historical figure for one of my english classes!. Please tell me if you think it sounds stupid or if you like it!. Thanks a bunch! :)

Chief Joseph, your people are crying,
their hearts overflow with grief and pain,
many of their ancestors have been slain,
your children are slowly dying,
the dead in their graves are sighing,
those forever lost in the mountains have succumbed to the rain,
even General Howard has nothing left to gain,
and yet the eagle in the valley is still flying,

Your people have been able to come through,
surviving all trials and remaining to teach,
carrying out each and every endeavor,
through everything your children have remained true,
faithfully abiding by your speech,
"I will fight no more forever"Www@Enter-QA@Com
