Oh yes indeed!. Those were the days!. My dad used to get it going before he went to work, after putting the coal and screwed up paper on he would set it alight, then put the shovel and a piece of newspaper over the front to make it "catch"!.
Me and my brother then toasted our bread, and sat by the hearth with the butter dish, in winter we had porridge too!. Imagine letting our kids do that today, social services would have a field day!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Love an open fire but hate the mess of cleaning the ashes and shovelling and bringing in the coal, see men have their purposes Delilah!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.my son & I did toast marshmallows once but flame so high they were bit too toasted!.!.!.!.!.!.:))Www@Enter-QA@Com

'Located approximately 3/4 mile from the surface of the sun, people audibly crackling as they walk past!.!.!. you don't need a bar b q, you just fling it on the grill and it bursts into flame!.'Www@Enter-QA@Com

Part of my allowance as a kid was it was my responsibility at night to steep the coal in the furnace in the basement for the night, and get it going in the morning!.
