Answers:
Right, if you burned them as mp3, the regular CD player doesnt understand that format!. So format may be the problem!. also as mentioned, the record format must be audio cd!. If it is in a data format, the CD player cant read that!.

CD-R:
Old CD players were not designed to play recorded CDs!.
CDs purchased in stores, are stamped!. not burned!. The small pits are reflective, no matter what the color of the laser used to read it!.
There is organic dye on the CD-R which doesnt reflect the same IR laser light as used in old players!. New players are designed to use the correct color laser light that will properly reflect off of the CD-R disks!.

If your player is new, or an mp3 player, it is probably designed to play CD-R, so the problem is probably that you wrote mp3 instead of WAV!.

When you play your disk in your PC, see if it is playing as mp3!. If it is, then you must convert the mp3 files to wav before burning!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you are using iTunes you have to wait until it''s done burning all the way, it usually says something like Burning disk finishing or something like that!.
If you are usuing Windows Media Player, I don't know what to say!.
But some CD player don't play burned CD's, so it could be your CD player!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
