I think more effort should be made to find a surviving copy, many films have been re-discovered this way, the entire works of Buster Keaton have been found and restored this way, the life of celluloid is coming to an end, all films made of this, wherever they are will soon have deteriorated beyond repair!. It's terrible to think that in the silent era, films were considered as throw away items, that once they had been shown in theatres, there fate was of no consequence, so thousands and thousands of wonderful films have been lost!.
Someone should try to re-make it!.
Lon Chaney Sr was a great actor, the makeup he used was sometimes very painful, I believe he got a lot of his idea's for the horrific appearance of his charactors, from things he had seen in WW1!. It is very difficult to get hold of his films on dvd, and again, I expect a great many have been lost!.
Lon Chaney Sr was the best of the silent era 'monsters', Bela Lugosi is my favorite post silent bad guy, Boris Karlof and Vincent Price are wonderful too:) Www@Enter-QA@Com
