Think about it!. People usually used either their finger/s (usually of the left hand, since the right hand was used for eating from communal trays, etc!.) or leaves or grass!.
Corn cobs, after the corn/maize had been stripped off for food, was the right shape, slightly rough, bio-degradeable, etc!. Hence the appellation 'cornhole' for yer butt!. Perhaps not perfect, but WAY better than grabbing some saw-grass or poison ivy leaves or poison oak, yeah!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
