Most of the time it is, but there are a few instances where it would not be practical to be completely honest, eg!. telling a white lie to save someones feelings!.
also, being too honest, can sometimes be insulting or hurtful to someone!. You may feel you are doing it for their own good, but instead, it may make you look the bad one!. For instance, if your friend had a new boyfriend and he was cheating on her!. You found out and decided to "warn" your friend because you cared about her!. Her boyfriend called you the liar, made your friend believe him and they both didn't speak to you again!. Was it really worth becoming involved and telling the whole truth!?
Honesty is mostly always the best policy, just think what the consequences may be and use tact and diplomacy!. :)

No!. Why hurt feelings unnecessarily!? If one cheats on a spouse/SO, I am totally against confession and honesty, unless confronted with evidence!. Why hurt the one you love more than you already have!. Personal guilt to your last breath is a much better punishment!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes I do!. If you aren't honest, then eventually it will catch up with you and the offended party will be mad at you!. What is more worth it, honesty and friends, or lies and mayhem!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
Not always - insensitive "friends" don't help!. One hurt me yesterday when I needed them most and was brutally honest and!.!.!.well yeah!.!.not worth spilling my mind on yahoo answers, but I didn't need it and it reeeally hurt me!.!.
