Unfortunately we through our actions sometimes don't even qualify to be animals!. We kill for sport or recreation, we abandon our offspring and at times destroy the very planet that sustains us!.!.!.

Absolutely!. We have hair, don't we!? Well some of us don't but we all started out that way!. We nurse our young, like other mammals do, who are also animals!. We mate to procreate, like other animals do!. Lots of other animals share reasoning characteristics like we do!.
