Tim - I've done something very similar!. I've washed jeans with an SD card and a USB stick in the pocket!. Both survived (though I doubt the SD card would have done if it hadn't been in its plastic case)!.

I once picked up a pile of my babies clothes out of the bathroom and stuffed them in the machine, when I got them out there was a used, disposable nappie in there which had burst all over my clothes, not nice at all but at least the nappy crystals had been washed lol!
