its a disease but starts with the decision to start drinking!. some ppl can drink and never have a problem!. others if they have the gene i believe that causes alcholism they can't help it - when they drink they have no control over alcohol yet alchohol controls them!.

I wouldn't call it a disease, but it's not a decision either!. It's a really bad habit that has such profounds on one's physical and mental status that it becomes nearly impossible to quit!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
actually the reason they call it a disease is because it's an addiction, and addiciton all in itself is a disease because it means that ones decision is entirely affected by the addiction!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Both!. There's genetic susceptibility involved, and chemical dependency!. But at the same time, many alcholics allow themselves to become alcoholics, and don't try to quit drinking, because they like the numbness!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
honestly, i think its a lil of both!. you decide to drink and eventually,over time, it can become a disease!. trust me!.!.!.
