Question: What are you doing to beat the high cost of gas!?
Answers:
Relying on the basics my mother taught me!. She learned her conservative/frugal skills as a child during the aftermath of the Great Depression!. I was raised to be frugal and it is during times like these that it does pay off!. What I do is this:

Keep a well stocked pantry with items we use frequently!. Only buy them when they are on sale and stock up!. Canned goods and paper goods do not go bad!.

Limit my errands to one or two days a week!. Cluster all errands in nearby areas together!. This way I use less gas!.

Grow a vegetable garden!. I currently grow strawberries, peas, beans tomatoes, squash, onions and asparagus!. Grow what you like to eat most!.

Close all shades during the heat of the day!. It will keep your house cooler and use less energy for air conditioning!. Turn of lights and appliances when not in use!.

The only things I have changed during this economic downturn is I go out to eat a lot less and I avoid impulse buying by sticking to a list of essentials!.

I have also cut back on movie-going!. I only see one or two blockbusters on the big screen!. The rest I wait until they come out on video and I rent them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

And I'm pregnant and my doc was there but I switched to a closer doc so I don't have to drive so far!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Simply driving less is the main thing in our household!.
We check ourselves before taking off for ANYTHING without first figuring out anything else we might do to save a second trip later on!.
We sold the second vehicle and that knocked off the cost of insurance, which gives us that extra resource to buy fuel for the primary vehicle!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
