Well, I was in high school in the 60's and we actually had a "dress code" in public schools and hair cut requirements so no one could go too far out of their way to try to be stand-outs from everyone else!.
By the time I was in my 20's things had relaxed a bit and "punks" began to emerge!.
Just before my time there were the "beat-nicks" and later "heavy metal"!.
My non-conformist friends and I were so much different from
"the system" people that we were all alike and thus "conformists" in our own right!.
And thus my exploration of the word "paradox" began!.
