Very difficult question to answer, although the obvious answer should be, to return it!.
It really depends on how you feel on the day!. If you are feeling contrite then returning shouldn't be a problem!.
If you are low on cash, it's hard to resist the temptation!.
And of course, if the amount is huge, the temptation is very great!.
I have seen people who are very rich, that still steal, and of course those really hard up, who inevitably do so!.
I am no saint myself, but I really do hope such a situation doesn't happen to me, and if it does, I hope I will be guided by the Holy Spirit to do what is right!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My husband and I found $200!.00 at a gas station -- great -- free money, which we needed desperately!. But, there was a deposit slip with it!. We went home and called the number -- the wife came over with her little baby -- she was crying -- it was all the money they had to take a trip for her mother to see her new baby!. I'm sure her husband was going crazy trying to find it -- and happy when he got home!.
However, another time my husband found a wallet that had, oh, maybe $40 in it --- and no ID!. I would probably leave it alone!.!.!. Why!? Because I've been there, we were at the mall and saw some money on the floor!. We took it and gave to the Lost & Found section of the mall!. Well, we didn't trust the people there!. They might keep it instead of returning it!. We took it there because we're afraid of Karma!.!.!. We won't want to have bad karmas!.!.!. Take the money and then have a look at the address on the driving license then return it to the owner!. Then i'll go and buy me a new top!.!.!.i deserved it!.!.!. after all, i went out of my way to give him/her back her personal cards n sh*t!Www@Enter-QA@Com
