Yes!. Especially in a loud arguement!. A classic trick of mine is that while the other person gets progressively louder, I get softer and softer, until they have to quit yelling to hear what I'm saying, and often I get down to a whisper before they shut up!.
Plus it's more effective!. People that can deliver a great statement whispering are people of power!. Anybody can yell and be intimidating, but those who can speak softly and carry the same weight with their words are so cool!.
Like my 8th grade English teacher told us off one time for making fun of this group's video project, and he didn't raise his voice once, and spoke really quietly the whole time!. And I felt so bad after he stopped talking that I wanted to, like, go home and cry, because that was worse than him yelling at us!.

I speak quietly, a habit I picked up from my Mother!. She never yelled at me when I did something wrong, she sat me down and asked me why I did what I did!. Quiet works : )Www@Enter-QA@Com
