Do you think calling someone 'fat' is the same thing as being racist?!
Question: I know i'm probably not going to get many that agree with me.. but like i'm not a big person and i just torechers me to hear someone call a bigger person 'fat'.. and just to stare at them i just call it being racist except its not race
its the same as calling a gay person a ****** (sorry), or a black person (you know what i'm not going to say it). or even a mentally handicapped person to call them retarded.. and people stare at them. We all are humans, we all have feelings.. i just felt like i needed to say this. does anyone have opinions?

i think you have chosen a poor example, but i will agree with your intention.
a racist only wants to hurt, as does someone who calls you fat,or a slang for gay, or whatever. so, in that sense, you are correct, it is the same thing.
edit - if that is you in the avatar, you need to be congratulated for not calling big people fat. it is nice to see someone who doesnt brag about what they have and make others feel worthless because of how they look.

Yes your right and some thin people don't like being called skinny and take offense to it. Either way you look at it, it's all discrimination and it's not nice!
I agree, its just not nice to "make fun" of someone who is different no matter what the reason. We should teach our children that it is not right. Its all about respect for others. It does not matter how we look, talk, dress, we are all human. Not racism though.

Calling someone "fat" is on a par with being racist. Especially if the person using that word is slim. If the person is on the heavy side too, it is simply a case of the pot calling the kettle black. It is very hurtful and disrespectful to label a person, whether it is calling them fat, skinny, retarded or whatever. As in the case of calling a person fat, this may not only be hurtful but may be the reason for a person to become anorexic. People have feelings, and we should all respect that.
