Both as bad as each other, just depends on the extent of the lie or promise broken.
E.g. If my mum breaks her promise to me of not eating the last rolo, that is hardly an issue compared to her lying to me about me being her real daughter!!!

If you break a promise, you lied about something you were going to do. So I'd say they're the same.

Promise broken: example: come in to work at 8:30 and get off around 7:30pm. Not!!! 10pm or later!!! I should really hold my boss to his Word!!

I think both are pretty bad. However, having a promise broken makes me feel really bad about myself and it is usually the same person that makes me feel like this. I could never break a promise to someone, it is just not in my psyche.

Hmmm? Well in my oppinion when you think about it. There both in a way the same thing. When someone lies they prevents someone from know the truth, and with someone breaks a promise, there have already lied to you that they could keep the promise in the first place.
I hate liars!
Both are breaches of trust, but with promice breaking, I mean there's no promice that doesn't have a potentially good reason to be broken.
Being lied to would feel like a greater betrayal to me, especially since it's an act of deception.
