Why is the word "Love" so complicated yet necessary to hear ??!

If only i had the answer.... for me it shows appreciation, and care and honesty, it means more than the word 'love'... i can live without hearing it if it's just said because it is a 'get out' or just to pacify a situation.... but if there is feeling and care and honesty within those words i need to hear it....
