Why do people say am unhealthy just because am 350 pounds?!

Question: For example they go into all these things that can happen to me because of weight...funny thing is a thin person can get the same. Like my friend is thin and has high blood pressure and am considered obese or whatever and I don't have any high nothing, I knew another thin person who had bad joints...my joints feel just fine.

Can you explain this?

I feel the same way you do. I am overweight too but there is nothing wrong with me.

sounds like a recent episode of Dr. House.

Jealousy

Sure, it can happen to a thin person, but who's it most likely going to happen to?

Did you know that fat stores the body's poisons? And holds them against your organs? I think that's scary.

everything is ok now BUT there is tomorrow

Unless you're 8 feet tall then 350 pounds is healthy.

cause ur at a HIGHER RISK!!
omg.. watch thats gonna happen to you soon. ull c

As long as you feel good about yourself and are healthy,,then don't worry about it,,,and actually I love BBW.......

i hope it's 350 pounds of muscle

R U kidding me? the complications of being obese is well documented. Seriously your kidding right?

then you just plain stupid.

Because being overweight can lead to diabetes & heart disease.

Blood pressure isn't always a good indicator of overall health---your extra weight puts you at an increased risk of diabetes or a heart attack, and it is also going to be holy hell on your bones and joints. You'll be in a lot of pain in years to come if you don't drop some weight.

Please try to lose weight; yours is really dangerous.

They just don't know what they're talking about... Alot of people think I'm unhealthy because I only weigh 120 pounds (I'm 6' 2''). I may be unhealthy.. But it's not because of my weight.

Also, what people need to realize is that weight has nothing to do with health (or how much you eat). People have a certain natural weight that they stay at. And if they gain or lose weight it will be unhealthy. If you are naturally 350 pounds, it would be unhealthy for you to lose weight. Because you'd be underweight for YOUR body.

They just hating.... They want rolls like us! ??

You have some good points there but extra weight makes your heart work so very hard.

wow, ask any doctor. overweight people are so much more likely to develop so many more diseases. sorry but its reality. toxins, diabetes, blood pressure, the list goes on and on. it sucks but its the cold hard truth. when was the last time you heard of a 350 lb 75 year old?

someone wants to be 200 pounds lighter......

Because they're jealous that you're going to live longer, survive hospital stays better, and have no significant increase in any other disease that they will get.

Please, read the following link (and the other Obesity Paradox links on the linked page) to understand that being fat isn't all the "health Nazis" would tell you it is!

"you have to stay excise and eat healthy.."

being too thin is not healthy being to big is not healthy...
its how much you eat how less you eat and how much effort fitness you put in.

and dont do it because of what people say do it for yourself.. talk to the doctor see what they say would be best for you dont do any dangerous dieting see your doctor.

Your right because the whole BMI (body mass index) thing is giving people the wrong idea about health. For instance, I'm only 5;8 and weigh 215 pounds. According to the BMI I am considered obese. But I have 10% body fat and I can benchpress 385 lbs. So, weight is a bunch of BS.

you are a higher risk....if you don't do something about the weight you will have problems later-if you really don't already it is b/c you are young- you WILL have problems later.....you are just rationalizing being overweight...

Because you are unhealthy. Don't look for people to give you reasons to justify your weight. People are concerned about you, maybe you should care about yourself instead of saying "I'm alright now" because you will go downhill fast. Thin people with issues is bad genes, illness, or lifestyle problems. You are setting yourself up for self induced problems. Best of luck

It's just because your risk factors go way up when you have too much body fat. All though people who are overweight and exercise more than a person who is of normal weight who doest exercise can make their risk factors a lot less then the person of normal weight who doest exercise. Exercising on a regular basis can drastically decrease your risk factors for obesity related health problems. I'm assuming you're pretty young and eventually your weight will catch up to you. My sister is 25 and lost around 175 lbs and feels 100 times better at a lighter weight. Even losing 15 pounds of body fat can decrease your risk factors by quite a bit. Just a thought.

are you just saying this to get a rise out of people?

After running test, trials, etc...the medical profession has determined that being overweight causes more health problems.

You may feel just fine now, but so did my mother, who developed a whole slew of problems later in her life.

Therefore, I'm inclined to say that the Docs, who studied their profession for many years, are correct.

If you are comfortable with who you are, then that's fine, but don't expect the people who love you to sit around and watch you eat yourself into an early grave. Believe me, it's quite painful.

: )

You just are at a much greater risk, i have been working on losing some weight and i have lost 25 pounds since early febuary, and my bp and resting heartrate have dropped like 20 points! i feel healthier in everyday life, i know for a fact that carrying all that extra fat around is bad for you, but dont worry too much about it, it takes sooo much hard work and some people are just built big, for those people (ok 350 is a stretch), but being a little overweight is not that bad for them!

People think it's always about their body type. It's all about feeling happy in your own skin.

350 pounds is obese for any normal height, and excess weight can lead to problems later on and does negatively affect your health.

If you are young that may have something to do with it...as a lot of things develop as we age...my husband is 360lbs does not have diabetes, does not have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. He is 50. The valves have stopped working properly in his legs, his ankles, knees and back hurt constantly, he has sleep apnea, has acid reflux and has to urinate frequently because of the added pressure on his bladder from his stomach. And these are just a few....

I guess it's a stereotype. Many many overweight people tend to be unhealthy. Having to pump all that blood through your extra body can strain the heart, high blood pressure or no. People just assume that you are unhealthy too. But if you're comfortable, go with it, I mean you only live once right? I'm considered thin, or at least not overweight and I rarely excersize at all. Volleyball once a week. You know the kind where your diving and jumping and spiking. reall volleyball. No real health problems either! The Cat however, has a slight heart murmur. Unlike my other two cats, he's NOT fat. He's really slim, but that is the body type for a fourth generation Bengal.
