A job interview tomorrow?!

Question: I've had my job 21 YEARS--and this is a similar position in a different company.

My question is this: I am female, and so is the interviewer. Should I shake hands when I introduce myself?

Any other thoughts/tips would be appreciated.

I think you should always give a powerful handshake. That lets them know that you are outgoing and confident (rather than just saying hi...I don't really care about this interview..etc.)
- Think of possible answers to questions and also prepare some questions of your own (this will show them that you are really interested in what goes on in the company)
- Be on time! Obviously, we all know this, but don't forget you can only make one first impression.
- Smile! Make eye contact. Show your personality in a formal, educated, confident manner.
- Act like you want this job. They want to see that they are hiring someone that can really pull their load and wants it not just someone who wants money but someone who can add to their company.
- Don't talk too much. Let the interviewer ask questions, ponder them, and give a to the point, perfectly thought out answer.
- Don't talk bad about other jobs or people. Be enthusiastic and positive.
- Send a follow up letter thanking them for the interview. This is important and shows that you care.
- Be honest. You don't want to get caught later in a little white lie even if it seems small and can benefit you. That will break their trust and, bye bye position.

Hope these help. If you want me to add more, say so!

yes, i shake hands with both genders, but sometimes men and women have weak handshakes so its a little weird. i like a firm handshake

yes!!! ....dont be late...dont hesitate...and be determined...act like you know wat to do..and dont say umm..

probably its better to stand up, be polite, and only shake hands if they offer their hand. its being a bit too forward to shake their hand first, i think. i have a job interview 2mrw as well, good luck with yours!

yes u should, it tells her that u r professional and look her straight in the eye with every question she asks and give complete answers, but be friendly and light too, hope this helped

good luck hun. xxx

yes, shaking hands would be totally appropriate. be sure to act confident and present yourself well. try not to get too nervous; i think job interviews go the best when you just act like a more polished and professional version of your usual self! :)
good luck!

No. Wave your hands about wildly and scream, Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, etc for five minutes then say we have the same shoes!

Just a thought

Follow what the interviewer does. Usually the handshake comes at the end when you thank the interviewer for their time and make your exit statement. If the interviewer is in your age range be aware of the possibility of "old" joints and don't make your grip too hearty.

If the interviewer offers her hand(she probably will), then shake hands. Dress accordingly. Know the company you are interviewing with. Always maintain good eye contact and have a good attitude.

I only shake hands if they put theirs out. Handshakes are often power plays and I don't go for that. It is perfectly acceptable for women to not shake. But do what you feel most comfortable with.

YOU'RE HIRED!

Let the interviewer set the tone. If she holds out her hand then you shake hands. The interviewer should already know your name because they have your application in hand. All you should need to say is "Good day I am Lilly Wantajob." Then answer the questions. If the interviewer is experienced let them lead you through. Just answer the questions do not verbally wander. Your turn to ask questions will come at some point, perhaps have a few prepared. Good luck

you got to shake hands ask questions but not too much dress professional: PLEACS DON'T WEAR NO tin-tops, skirts, shorts, sandals or anything like that. Also ask for anything that you have any concern about or if you don't know. Try to avoid RED & BLUE

try not to get nerves because they will know
