Some years ago Paul McCartney and John Lennon were in a booth at a London nightclub with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards when Mick and Keith asked how John and Paul wrote their songs...John and Paul wrote the song "We Can Work it Out" on a napkin, just trading ideas back and forth, while Mick and Keith watched in silence.
Paul wrote the first part, "Try to see it my way....only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong..." and John wrote the "middle 8" in minor keys, "Life is very short, and there's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend..."
Mick and Keith went out and soon were collaborating on their own songwriting for the Rolling Stones, and while they were seldom as good as the Beatles, they did quite well for themselves, all things considered...wish I'd been there...
