I think it might have worked years ago, but not now days. You only have to smile in a certain manner and you're being offencive to someone or other, so no leave it in the past gets my vote.

I've yet to hear of anyone being positively effected by being brutalised. I have two loving, responsible, hard-working young men I am proud to call my sons. I can count the number of times on one hand that I used physical punishment on them.
There is no need to beat children into decent human beings. I do feel however, that all too many children don't have ANY KIND of punishment given to them or enforced. Unless they understand that there are limits and boundaries, they will not achieve their full potential.
There must be more support of teachers and less tolerance of bad behaviour. Those who don't co-operate with the education system should be put to work instead of wasting time trying to teach the unteachable. Perhaps people who don't appreciate a free education system should be made to pay for it. If every missed lesson cost you ￡30, you'd eliminate truancy in no time. We have to pay if we miss a dentist's appointment, don't we?

It depends on the situation. It can be good or bad.
Depends on what type of corporal punishment. If you mean the chair, gas, or lethal injection then I am against it. I feel we need to go back to what really worked. Murder = beheading, rape = castration, armed robbery = cut off a hand, etc, etc. To be performed on TV during prime time. Give this a few weeks and we will watch the crime rate plummet. Hey it worked well in the Middle Ages.
