Has anyone read Edgar Allan Poe for fun?!
Question: Really, I'd love to know if I'm the only one who actually enjoys his stories.

I find Edgar Allen Poe to be very interesting. I like the darkness and mysteriousness of his poetry and stories to be fascinating. I appreciate him because his stories and poems often end sadly, unlike many people who insist on happy endings. He is probably one of my favorite authors.
He is insane.

I read them, at least twice. I particularly like to hear his material read aloud. Even his prose has a poetic rhythm.
I read it sometime ago..
I read everything I know of that he wrote when I was a teen, then about 10 years ago (I'm 53) I RE-read it all!
Wonderful wonderful writer!!!
I haven't read it for fun, but a couple of months ago at college we studied a short story by him called Masque of the Red Death, and I did actually enjoy it.

I enjoy all of his short stories, especially Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Black Cat. I find his writing irresistibly creepy. One of his houses is located down town Philadelphia (from where I live).
