This probably isn't a good thing but its worked fine for me! My last relationship was 3 years long, the current one is 18months but we have been living together for a year and are madly in love!
What is love without a certain amount of risk and passion in the beginning? If people are putting together a 'detailed file' on a potential partner then the chances are no-one will be perfect enough! You learn to love your partners 'flaws'. :)
different situation each time. for example: i once dated a guy who i'd known since we were both 3. we went through education together - right from nursery school up until finishing secondary school. u can't know someone much better than that ! but i've also ended up having a serious relationship with someone who i'd only known for a week.
i guess it just depends on whether or not the situation feels right. trust your instincts.
I don't believe in the notion of a "perfect mate" and i think if you sit around wasting valuable silly fun time compiling a dossier on someone...you deserve to be alone!...x
Nothing cynical about that..at least i don't waste half my time looking for 'that someone special'....they're all special to me...

Hmmm, I knew the man I married from age 10. I don't think that helped a bit. I knew the man I seriously dated after that since age 5 -- that didn't work out well either.
I'm thinking maybe I should go with the rush in and find out what they're like along the way route. Maybe that would work better.
