What's the Real Deal regarding Violations, Blocking & Suspended Accounts??!

Question: Okay, I've seen all these postings recently and am quite clueless as to what's going on with all this. Does one's account get suspended like receiving a certain amount of violation warning emails from Y!A, pretty much like baseball..3 strikes and you're out?? lol

And I've seen people posting that their account has been suspended many times? Does that mean they start from scratch again with 0 points? :-O

And I've also read someone advising that it's wise to block users whose account activity seems stagnant at Level 1? Are those the highly likely suspicious *trolls* that get people's accounts suspended for no reason?? X D

Okay, knowledgeable people out there, hit me back on this one! Many thanks in advance..

Hi Astrolady,

Well, a particular number of violation notices is not necessary for someone to get suspended. One can be suspended when he reaches the sum of 5 notices as well as 50.

When a suspened member opens a new account, he starts all over again- yes, 0 points, unfortunately.

Level 1 users are most of the times creating suspicions because the truth is that many of them are indeed trolls. However, users of other higher levels can cause someone to get their account deleted (according to how powerful his/her impact is on Y!A community), as well. (We should note that a user of higher level in NO way means a more civilized one.)

shame some of the info was 100% wrong Report It

There is no set number of violations before suspension, the severity of the violation is more important ........ You can be deleted for one severe violation, or stay after several minor ones.

You start from scratch if you are suspended, which is NOT 0 points, it's 101 (the 100 you get when you start a new account, plus the 1 you get for logging in)

I know nothing about the level one blocking, but I regularly kick level ones out of my fan list.

You get suspended after getting a number of violations within a short timeframe. Most of the time they are from being attacked. Make sure to appeal them.

Another thing to keep in mind, besides what has already be written here, is that if you report violations too often and the Y/A community guidelines team disagree with you, your reports will in time be ignored. It's like the little boy who cried wolf too many times. But I wonder what happens if there really is a wolf on the premises (read trolling or violation). Also, I happen to know of one very aggressively political Y/A user who got involved with the community guidelines team--plus he has a huge Y/A following. Many Y/A users think his acts of trolling are funny or harmless. Either that or they are afraid to report him. I'll probably be reported for writing this response. It's very Orwellian. Like Animal Farm. Some Y/A users get reported, suspended, etc. for the least little thing, or for doing the right thing, while others have the freedom to do what they please (as long as they have the "power" or the privilege).
