It's organized racketeering. The term "lottery", does not deserve to be attributed to such thing.

To be fair though, when you're constantly worrying about money, the lure of winning millions must be very enticing. I guess people don't see it as spending £X per year, they just see a quid or two disappearing each week and think "ah what the fork, why not"

The prize distribution is wholly unfair. The max anyone person should win should be limited to say 2-3 Million that is more than enough to keep yourself and your family for the rest of your life.
