Well I don't deliberately try to be different - I think it's most important to just be yourself. I think some people try so hard to be different that they aren't themselves anymore than someone that tries to be like everyone else.
I just be who I am - I never thought or cared about how I was different or the same or what anyone else thought or thinks.

Yup, I do what I want, too. I hate trends and popular crap and the fake people who try to keep up with it all. That's why I have all sorts of different friends.

Honestly, I'll be different, but only to the extent that is still accepted in "the same." does that make sense? I know it sounds shallow, but heck...just being honest...
I tend to look at folks, and if I like the way they dress, I tend to want to incorporate that into my style. HOWEVER, I also am my own self, and I pretty much like doing my own thing. I always think it is a good compliment when I know others are copying what I do, with my clothes or jewelry, or whatever. They do not even have to tell me, I see them do these things. I get a real 'kick' out of it !! Good question, my dear.
Yes, I dare to be different. I am who I am and that's just the way it is. (= It's never a good idea to try to change yourself just for the sake of fitting in, for approval and acceptance, unless you're doing undercover work. (lol)

always zig when others zag... always go a diff direction from others... not for attention, just a deeper understanding or view, people tend to gravitate to me because my approach is so fresh, real, or objective... you should check out the books by anne fadiman: Ex Libis, Confessions of a Common Reader. Also, At Large and At Small.
I love to please others so I do care what others think. If it comes down to costing me self esteem to please others-well that is where I draw the line. I could be like any number of people-I don't try to be or not to be like others. I do seek to be just myself.

Yes, everyone is unique, but if every is so dead-set on their uniqueness, is not everyone the same by their same goal of total independence? Being different is like being humble – if you try to be that way consciously, you will never achieve it. Yet, if you live true to an inner core of belief, you will be independent by virtue of your inherent uniqueness.
We are all different. We are all unique.
I put the D into different. I dont follow in the shadows of others. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and ya know what didnt it didn't fit me.
Many people see me as being eccentric and I suppose some would I stick out like a sore thumb with this but at the end of the day we are all different in our own way.
