Do you prefer a "good restaurant" or Olive Garden/Red Lobster ??!

Question: I mean, let's be honest: Do you even know what you eat in Olive Garden or Red Lobster or any of these "franchise places"??
If I have to pay a sitter, to stay home with the kids for me to go out with my hubby for a "romantic dinner", isn't it better with "candle light and Jazz music if needed in the background, than the loud and noisy "eat all you can for little money" in Olive Garden ??

Clo, I was falling madly in lust with you until you said Olive Garden AND Red Lobster. Are you kidding me? I wouldn't be caught starving in either of those "restaurants." I prefer to cook every single meal because I know what's in it. Come to my house Clo, I'll watch the kids and hook you and Mr. Clo up with a fabulous Italian meal.

Her offer is the best .lol Report It

    Olive Garden

    I totally agree!!!

I appreciate the olive garden fare every once in a while, it's good food cheap. But I'd much rather have a really good meal that's pricey and have a better over all experience there with the ambiance... Sometimes I can't afford ambiance, so I go for the cheapy good stuff.

    Olive Garden.

Good restaurant for a romantic dinner...if the budget allows. if youre going to Red Lobster just bring the kids!

    Olive garden

Indeed-- the Olive Garden is a joke, and Red Lobster is sledding downhill fast.

I happen to love the Olive Garden. I go once in a while and I love their cheese ravioli or Zuppa Toscana soup, oh my gosh it's so good.

I have eaten at Olive garden just once, and my sister picked it. i have never eaten at red Lobster. there are many local seafood places in san francisco that are much better.

Olive Garden= McDonald's of Pasta, Red Lobster = McDonald's of Seafood, I don't like the franchise places, Small quiet hide aways that nobody know about are the place's for me

    I prefer Diners.

I'm an Olive Garden freak. But I agree that a nicer restaurant can be better .. live music .. quieter .. but nothing beats OG food ..

I prefer someplace that's comfy, not pretentious. (Although of those chain choices, you can keep both.) And I won't eat anywhere they're playing jazz.

    Olive Garden!

Olive Garden is disgusting! Seriously, calling that Italian is an insult to Italian culture everywhere! I'd much rather eat at a local bistro, homey Italian place or seafood restaurant(we've got lots of great options here in RI)

nope i love red lobster plus in those fancy places you pay all that money and you get a little plate of food and your hungry again and stop off at mickey d's. plus i hate jazz so no like i said i'll take red lobster and the country buffet. the one near me is great. the atmosphere is more like a fancy place and the food is always piping hot and doesn't sit like at most places. i'm not a snob.

I can't get out for a romantic dinner, and my family is not up to fine dining, so put me in the Olive Garden/Red Lobster group.

Well Olive Garden isn't THAT bad - but it's noisy (like most franchise places) But, as for Red Lobster I have gotten sick there (and poor service there) SO many times we just don't go there anymore.
If out on a romantic date? MUCH nicer going to some small sweet and quiet out of the way mom/pop restaurant than a big noisy franchise.

both these places are typical chain restaurants. At the olive garden, the sauces are pre-made and just reheated. At Red Lobster, most of the fish is previously frozen and thawed, nothing actually fresh.

If you're going out to truly enjoy a meal, you go for the food quality. Find a fancy restaurant that has good reviews and treat your palate to something special.

Also, if you are looking for excellent "franchise" food go to Carrabba's. I've never had a bad meal at this place. Very good Italian food for chain. Excellent service, but the prices are a bit high. In the end, I do believe you get your money's worth though.

I love Olive Garden and we bring the kids...I don't leave my kids with a sitter~

I have to say good company is always better than expensive food, and it doesnt have to be expensive to be good.

    Peace

I'll take the nice place for an extra $40 for the night to just stay away from dining a few feet from the cubical lemmings that are cheap to keep on paying their mortgage.

You gets no love for this question. I love the Olive Garden...and I've never been to Red Lobster.

The environment you speak of is nice, smooth, and relaxing.
Reminds me of Sweet Fire & Ice...a branch of Coplans..

It also sounds like a lot of restuarants here in New Orleans...yea

Honest? O.K. I am a poor boy; I do NOT see a difference between eating at McDonald's adn a fancy place such as Olive Garden or Red Lobster. I can't even imagine what you MEAN by a "good restaurant". IF, I mean IF you want "good", stay at home and eat GOOD. That way, you have an inkling of an idea what goes into the food and whether or not the prepared took a dump and washed hands (or not).
There are just as many people getting sick at the "good restaurants", Olive Garden or Red Lobster, or McDonalds, etc.
No matter how much they charge you, it is all slop, prepared by surly people who NEVER wash their hands after taking a dump.
Where do you think all those diseases come from?

Yes ,for a date with the hubby it's a nicer to go to a good restaurant where they actually prepare the food there in the kitchen.

But sometimes it's nice to take the kids with you to places like Olive Garden and Red Lobster. All children, no matter what their ages, need to learn how to behave in restaurants and public places. If they don't behave, tell them that next time you'll hire a sitter and leave them at home. It's a learning thing for them and a family outing.

I agree, I really don't like franchise restaurants, I love the restaurants down here by the beach because they are one of a kind with live music every night, and there is the choice of indoor or outdoor dining right on the water, either ocean or river. Its awesome

i know exactly what you mean girl!

I prefer restaurants with a little more to offer, to be quite frank... it's not that I have anything against Red Lobster or Olive Garden... but their food is a bit on the bland side... I like finding non-franchise local restaurants that have an excellent reputation, great atmosphere, and yes, good ambiance music is a definite bonus!

I'd rather have a nice candle lite dinner at home.?
