WHY CAN'T I FIND A JOB.....? 10 points ya'll!?!

Question: Okay, I'm 21 and have never held a job before. Wasn't able to because of other past responsibilities! NOT! because I was lazy! Don't get smart, don't get it twisted!!!!!

Anyway, I've dropped off at least milion resumes and even joined a job agency. Still nothing! it's been a looooong time now. I'd just like a little monet to buy a few DVDs, couple-a-books and a shirt or 2. Is so wrong?!

What's going on? have I done wrong in a past life?
Is there a conspiracy against me?

Help here folks:)

There was a period of time when I was looking for a job & when I attended a seminar at a job fair, the job coach said that the #1 thing that people do wrong in their search is not follow up. They send out hundreds of resumes, join an agency, but don't write a note or (more important) pick up the phone. Most people say that they don't call because they don't want to be a pest. Most people (myself included) are afraid to pick up the phone to call. They are afraid of coming across as too pushy or possibly afraid of rejection. It's a lot easier to try to let the resume speak for you, but the resume is really only an introduction to you. Why don't you call all the people you have dropped resumes off with over the past 3 weeks and ask if they have a position open that you can see them about (if you aren't sure they were hiring or not) - if you know they were hiring, ask for the status of the position and tell them you would really like to discuss it with them in person. If an employer sees is as pushy, you have nothing to lose since the job wasn't already yours. Chances are greater that the employer will see you as a "go-getter".
Let us know how it goes!

**One more thing - ask the agency people to look over your resume and make recommendations to you on how to improve it.

The economy is really crappy now. Lots of people can't get jobs. Though maybe there's something you're not telling us.

Because society is corrupt now gimme the points :]

Well, 1st of all the economy is slow. I'm in the same situation as you are, people always say good things come to those who wait, so just keep hanging in there you'll find something..Trust me before you know it, you'll get like 5-10 calls in a week...

Let me give you a hint: it's hard for well-qualified people to get a job. Contact a temporary company like manpower, and when they find something for you, try to do your best and don't complain or act like you don't like the job.

sell ya a ss ,you might make enough for a bigmac

You need to tell us what your qualifications are. There are jobs out there.......more info=better answer from me.

if your desprate.. work in retail. its a pain but moneys money... dont work at any fast food place... cuz its just sad..lol.

I can't tell.... How low are you willing to go?

You can't even get a job at McDonalds?

You could always stand outside of home dept on the weekend with the illegal immigrants. I betcha someone would love to hire you for day work just 'cause you can speak english.

people have a hard time hiring people with out experience.

It could be a lack of previous experience, which is likely since you've never held a job before. About a year ago I was unable to find a job anywhere, mostly because of a lack of experience. For experience, you could volunteer doing something you like. Most companies will let you volunteer with them, which is essentially free help. Talk about an internship with various employers and build up a resume. After you have an even semi-descent resume, you'll be amazed at the jobs you can find. It's not what you know, it's who you know, and working in a professional setting is the best way to meet people that can hook you up with a job.

Good luck brother, I've felt the struggle. Don't let the man get you down!

Probably your lack of experience. Try a temp agency, they are a little more lenient.

There's a recession going on. Don't give up hope though. I'm sure someone needs help somewhere! ?

i know the feeling. first of all, dont blame yourself. its not because of you. its because theres too many people in this world and too little to be done when machines and computers do the thinking, and asian countries all that they can transport with a ship. whats left is left overs on the job market on the western world.

the cold facts are, that for every job that appears at least a bit sensible, full time and normal paid job, approximately 50-150 people apply. from there they pick the one that have highest diplomas, courses etc and years of experience. then theres the employers that hire the prettyest for something to wach at the office...

bro, jsut graduated from university, same boat!

After I left my last job it took a year and a half for me to get into another company. I was also temporary for the first nine months before they finally hired me on. So it pretty much took me two years and three months to get into a good company again.

maybe cuz you think to much ...
