I've seen that done mostly when the people think the question holds no merit.

They say that because they really want the points and can not come up with an acceptable answer so they try to throw it in your face because you clearly want answers so they just want to be an a hole and say "Thanks for the 2 pts".

They're saying the question is not worth giving a real answer, but they'll take the 2 points anyway. It's win/win for them. They make the questionnaire feel bad and get 2 points out of it.

Good question. Maybe all they want is the 2 points. I like questions that are meaningful or ones that I can give a meaningful answer. I don't see the point in gathering points. It's not a contest with prizes. If people are in it for a points contest why not do something more constructive with their time?
it is annoying and people just put silly answers to the questions so they can gain points, but yahoo answers is not about gaining points its about helping people out with their questions
It is rude, but sometimes it's a dumb question. So, there is no way of answering and someone wants the points anyway.
