Answers suggestions - please tell me what you think?!
Question: I have a few suggestions for some tweaks to Yahoo! Answers. Tell me what you think of them please, if you don't mind. If most people are in favour, then I can post it on the forums. I just wanted to run it by you guys first.
1) Reporting a question should cost 50 points. This way people will only report questions that are *really* bad.
2) Reporting a user should cost 100 points. This way, users won't want to report other users unless they are really violating terms and conditions. It will reduce the number of reports from trolls/haters, and more of the reports will be real reports.
3) A user should have to be reported by 5 other users before they are suspended. Right now, I believe it's only 1 strike and you're gone.
4) When you make your Q&A and/or network 'private', only people that are your contacts should be able to see it, not people who are your fan only, and not your contact. You should essentially get to 'approve' them before they see it.

Reporting a question should cost 50 points - but having that report validated as correct should award 500 points
reporting a user should cost 100 points - but having that report validated as correct should award 1,000 points
a user should be given a warning upon 1st violation, then monitored by Q&A and if a 2nd violation occurs be banned for life

They're all good ideas but, I really like #3. I got suspended for being reported by one person.
I believe that you are 100% correct. I hope Y/A uses your suggestions.

They are good but the 50 points for the bad question should be then they look at the question and if it is bad you get the/or some of the points back or there will be tons of nasty questions.
Hmmmm, I think your idea is a good one, but that's just too severe a punishment (50 points - 100 points). How about 20 or 25?
I like the idea of someone being suspended after being reported a certain number of times.
I really don't care if someone's Q & A is private or not -- that doesn't bother me in the least!

Sounds good to me, but then I don't report people.
I agree with the last few comments on here but the first few I think you are missing one point. The idiots that try and wreck this site for the majority couldn't give a crap about 'points'. The others are cool though. I try to treat this site as it is intended and never take it too seriously though.
sounds like the first poster is who your comment can refer to but yes there are trolls that if you don't type good they will report so go figure do what I'm going to start doing any little thing not ya approval I'm pressing the report button

Agree with # 3 & 4, very good ideas. Don't know how viable # 1 & 2 are. Might encourage people not to report even those they thought were very bad, thinking maybe they can let other people report & they can keep their points.

I agree. Also they tell you that if you feel the removing of your question/answer was unfair to e-mail them. I have but they never get back to you.
I don't think this will stop those on the left who goal is to keep facts out of the questions. It too easy to have more than one accounts and to start over with a new account even if you have been kicked off by those who control.
i strongly loved ur sugesstion...its hard to enjoy ourselves here anymore these days...i support u 110% on tis dear....

you have some great advice for those ppk running Y!A, they should see what you have said cuz they are all great suggestions.
theyre all pretty good!! #3 is my favorite though. but maybe it should be 3 not 5.

Those are really good ideas...there have been way too many trolls and haters here lately...you should let Yahoo! know your suggestions!!
