I'm in michigan too, and I feel your pain, it seems like they only come by and plow you in like that when you just get finished shoveling your driveway!
Happens all the time......I suppose you and other neighbors could call and request they don't plow your street.
I agree that it's quite rude, but I think chasing the plow down to copy down the license plate number is the better way to go - there are likely others he's doing this too - why not report it to the mayor and the local newspaper?
