For me, I love showing off but not too much. I like the attention and it gives something for others to admire about you.
Love showing off my artwork, gymnastic skills, running skills, and my hair..and exboyfriend ;D
I know I sound like some arrogant byotch but I'm not. I do it very rarely and its nice to feel admired by someone sometimes.
In my opinion, its good to do it sometimes and to show your talent a bit but too much is awful.
My friends tend to show off a little too much.. but they're actually really nice and I love to complement them and I admire and envy many things about them..
So it can be bad or good. Depends on how much you show off.

Attention. Or maybe they want to be accepted. There's many reasons. None of which are good.
because were men,,i asume your talkin about men?> lol well in that case, i assume its somthing that were predisposed to, ie the ruffling of the feathers in a mating dance, whos got the biggest horn or beak, we jus think it makes us more attractive,

people want to be rewarded when they have done something well,
usually to say that they r powerful or hav something in them. usually introverts do this.
I agree to the one's above Attention.
But not all the time...sometimes they want to show what they really got.
