Answers: The ones like here in Hull England who are obviously drug addicts and in need of more drug money?

um...good question...
if they are alone..they could just be a guy who puts on a fake dirty outfit and beggs for money
if its a family with kids then yes i will.

I dont.. Not for any reason just i dont think to..

no

if they need drug money, no, but if its for other reasons, yes but only like a dollar.

I do if I have some change in my pocket. They don't allll use it for drugs and alcohol, so if there's a chance I might be helping them buy a meal, why not?

I once gave a quarter to a beggar :)

I live in New York, and sometimes when I'm in NYC, if I have change in my pocket, sometimes i give a quarter or two.

I once saw a guy who was asking for money and holding up a sign saying "I'm not gonna lie to you, I will use your money to buy beer."

I usually do, unless they are being obnoxious and yelling things.

Sometimes a dollar, but if they seem like creepy drug addicts then no.

No, I give them food though.

They are entitled to social security like anyone else , there is no need to beg in the UK ,

only if i have a dollar or too, im not gonna give them anything more then that. plus only if its not to much trouble. if i gave them too much it'd probably be booze money

A few times I have.

Never, their are many benefits out there to be claimed, up to them to get it, or they could try getting a job.

no i don't,most of them are better off than i am & are just scamming people

dont give them money for drugs unless they want to die

We don't really have beggars when I live...(small town) Occasionaly there will be someone along the highway..but very rarely...I'm not sure that I would give them anything..I could use some extra money myself.

no. there are better ways to help them, because if you just give them money, they go buy beer. i donate money to homeless shelters.

no I do not

nope.
i'm afraid they would spend it all on drugs.

I give them tokens that are good for one free meal at the homeless shelter. Never cash.

No
I do feel sorry for some of them but you can never be sure exactly what they want the money for
And i'm not gonna pay to feed somebodys drug addiction

Generally I don't, but when I do I give 5$,

I used to give change to homeless people, but nowa days they all look like they are able bodied and should try harder to get them self's out of the "rut" that they have found them self's in. My husband owns his own buss. doing construction and now I just hand them one of his buss. cards and tell them if they need a lift up,or a chance to get back on their feet, call and he will put them to work, and help them help themselfs....funny...not one of them have ever called??.....hummmmm

Laughster has a point... If it's a family with kids I definitely would, but only enough for them to get a few groceries or something... If they're asking for money alone or in a pair or something, I would ask them what they planned to buy with it. If they say something other than food, I would use my common sense and leave. If they say food, I would run to the nearest fast food place and bring them back a Big Mac or something. I'd give it to them, then leave. If they don't accept it, I assume they were lying when they said they wanted food, and I leave and eat it myself...

I also might give them a coupon or something for a free meal, but never straight up cash.

Never give em anything unless they seem like nice, responsible, sensible people- not drug addicts.

no way because its there fault there in the s**t anyway. if they had any sense they would of got a job by now.

NO. YOU WOULD ALLOW THEM TO BE BEGGARS. IF A BEGGAR ASK FOR MONEY FOR FOOD. OFFER TO TAKE THEM TO EAT. THEY AWLAYS SAY NO THEY RATHER HAVE THE MONEY. I HAVE NOT ONE BEGGAR YET TAKE ME ON MY OFFER.

Good question. As much as I dont like to see anyone suffer, I dont give money to beggars at all. Its the worst thing you can do because you have no way of know who really needs it and who doesnt.

It's funny you bring up this question. As I write this, Im in Cairo Egypt. Im shocked at the number of people who routinely approach me in search of money. Small kids will block your path as you walk. They can be very persistant.

I had a guy grab my arm as I was getting in the car, not once but Twice. I was shocked and pissed. Where I'm from, that's an invitation for trouble. I wanted to deck him but my wife and I are in a foreign country and dont know what to expect. With a recently surgery on my knee I dont want to take chances. I looked the guy in the face and spoke to him in broken Arabic and he left me alone.

Then he tried again the following day. I gave him ''the look'' (LoL, got that from my mom) and he left me alone. Afterwards, I saw he wasnt wearing shoes and had huge, ugly blisters on his feet. I felt sorry for him. I had no sympathy at first because he's a young strong man. However, my feelings changed when I saw his feet.

I'll find him before I leave and give him something, though I dont usually give to beggars. Most of the are just as capable of working as any of the rest of us. They're clever and find begging an easy way to make money. If you give to one, and word gets out, you become a target for other beggars.

That is my reason for not giving to them. For some reason, I feel the desire to make an exception for the young man I wanted to clobber. Just a gut feeling. We cant even communicate because he knows NO English and I dont know much Arabic.

I look at it this way: I work my @ss off to make my money so i'm not going to give it to people who can't seem to get a job, maby from lack of effort

No, I don't give out money to strangers on the street.

IF SOMEONE COMES UP TO ME ON THE STREET AND ASKS FOR MONEY WHICH IS RARE HERE, BTW,I WILL SPOT THEM SOMETHING.I CAN NOT IMAGINE GOING THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT THE NECCESSITIES.
